Some tender mercies of the Lord. - Mon 3/19/2018, 4:51 PM

Elder Hernández and I

Dear friends and family,
This last week Elder Hernández and I got start working. He told me that we have a really cool investigator. She was a reference from another group of elders, and that she has a baptismal date. We went to go visit her and it was a really cool experience, but it got even cooler.
So, I started asking her some questions about how she found the missionaries and she started talking about how she was walking down the street and some missionaries came up and asked if the could share a scripture with her. She said yes, and after the missionaries asked if she would like to learn a little bit more. The wrote her direction and Elder Hernández and Elder Ruiz passed by her house like a week later. Then she started talking about the missionaries that contacted her, and pointed at me and said ´´One of them looked kind of like you¨´
We talked a little bit more, and it turns out that Elder Lingenbrink and I contacted her and she loved the gospel.
It's amazing what kind of miracle happen out here on the mission.
I know that the Church is True and that God has restored the Gospel so that we can be happy in this life and in the next. And that  the Lord worketh in many ways to the salvation of his people.

Love you all.

Satélite! - Mon 3/12/2018, 5:09 PM

Cake on my face

Dear friends and family,
So, we got news about our transfers this last Saturday, and my time in barrio Terrazas has come to an end. I'm going to be moving to a different ward in San Luis called Satélite and I'll be serving with an elder Hernández, but I don't get to met him until tomorrow, and we have just been cleaning the house really good and washing our clothes today.
Honestly, getting transfers is one of the hardest things to have happen as a missionary. Sure, it is exciting, but sometimes it is really hard. And even harder when you get attached to the members and the other wonderful missionaries in you district. But, you keep on going, and it is definately worth it. In every transfer you can see the Lord's hand as He guides to the new people you are to help, and as He helps you adapt to a different dynamic.
I know that the church is true!
Love,
Elder DuBose

Where do I begin? - Mon 3/5/2018, 3:29 PM

Dear friends and family,
Let's just say that a ton of stuff happened this week, and looking back on it all, I'm not really sure where to begin (or even if I'm remembering all of the stuff that happened)
We went to go do some visits with a member, Hno. A. this last Saturday. Like I always do, I prayed really hard that our plans wouldn't fall through. They did, but the good news is that Hno. A. was kind of excited about that. As we were walking away from the last house on our list that wasn't home, he started to tell us about his mision and that on Saturdays he could almost always find someone because everyone would be in their houses drinking with the doors open just listening to music. Shortly after he finished his story, we walked past a house with it's door open, music blasting from the inside. Hno. A. just looked at us, walked up to the door, and -- to make a long story less long-- we ended up teaching a father of a young family. He invited us to come back. It was really cool.
Miracles happen in strange and awesome ways.
Thank you all so much for you prayers!
Love,
Elder DuBose

Before we left the house today.

Dear friends and family,
We had our zone conference this last week, and it was super awesome! Something that we really put a lot of emphasis in is making specific plans and following out with those. Elder Lingenbrink and I decided that we could be a lot better with all of that, so we've been setting goals and making plans about invinting the members to come and help us a little bit more.
It was a really cool experience. We went to go teach a less active with him and the less active's friend was there. We started talking with them, and the member just said, "So I imagine that S. has told you all about our friends here" and we had a really cool lesson about how we can find all of the answers that we need if we obey the Gospel and diligently seek after the answers. It was super powerful! and super true! It reminds me a lot of the scripture in James 1 that says, "if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God ... but ask in faith nothing wavering." (see James 1:5-6) Later on in the epistle, James teaches us what it means if we say the word faith. That it isn't just a passive hope for something, or even a belief in something, but a belief that moves us to action. Or even an action that moves us to believe. The answers are there, we just have to look pretty hard for them sometimes. But, if we keep doing the things that we know that we should, the answer will come. I know that it will.
That was about it for this week. I hope that everything is going swimingly for you wonderful people!
Love,
Elder DuBose

A lot of little miracles! - Mon 2/19/2018, 4:24 PM

Yolanda, Eduardo and us

Dear friends and family,

This week was awesome! So, one of our investigators that we have been working with for a really long time got baptized and confirmed this last weekend. That was awesome, and it was super fun to see her get baptized. I've never prayed more than that in my whole life!
It turns out that she had a fear of the water that she didn't even know about, and the bishop asked us to have the most reccent convert baptize her so he wasn't sure what he was doing. We had to repeat the ordanince a few times, but it all ended up alright. Even so, it was kind of nerve racking.
Seeing the change that has been coming over her for the past few months has been something extremely awesome! The Gospel will really change you if you let it.
I love you guys a ton! Thank you for all your prayers and everything that you do!
Love,
Elder DuBose
