Hot waters - Mon 8/27/2018, 3:43 PM

Me eating a pomagrante.
Dear friends and family,
We had our transfer cycle come to an end this last week. And we got our transfers on Thursday night. I'm going to be heading out of San Luis Potosí and I'll be heading to my (probably) last area in Aguascalientes. It should be fun. It is the only state of the three states in the mission that I haven't been in yet.
It has been a little weird to think about. I have been here in this ward for about six months now, and it feels weird thinking that I am going to be leaving. But, things are going to be good. Elder Perez and I went around visiting all of the members and the investigators that we have been teaching, and they all promised me that they would keep going strong. That is the best feeling that one can get on the mission. Knowing that the people that you have taught and interacted with have the desire to change.
The church is true!!
Love,
Elder DuBose

Mis queridos amigos y familia (My dear friends and family) - Mon 8/20/2018, 11:38 AM

Me, working out.
Dear friends and family,
This week was really busy. We had a zone conference, and we just tried to keep up on all of the things that we have to do.
We had a pretty cool expereicne that happened. A few weeks ago, our district leader started to talk to us about some stories in the Bible, and how they work with helping people make comitments and show true faith in the Lord. One of the stories was of a Sameratin named Namaan. He had leprousy and was certain that he would die. It just so happened that one of his servants was a jewish girl that told him of a prophet that could heal him. Namaan went, and the prophet sent out his servent and told Namaan to go wash himself seven times in the Jordan River. So he went, and he went away mad. Until one of his servents said, "What's the worst that could happen? If the prophet had asked you to do something big, would you not do it? So why not do something small" Our district leader compared it to when our investigators need to show faith, but their friends that are members tell them about something.
Our investigator, N., had a member friend who told her about priesthood blessings before we got a chance to tell her. We got a call from her asking us to go give a blessing to her daughter who had just had a baby. N. showed a lot of faith in the Lord in that moment. She probably doesn't understand the importance of what she asked us to do, but she knows that it helped and that God loves us.
It was a really humbling experience.
I love you guys!

Another Busy Week - Mon 8/13/2018, 4:09 PM

Dear friends and family,
This week, we had a really cool experience.
So, all of our plans had kind of fallen through, and my companion and I were just sittingon a bench by the side of the road, thinking of something that we should be doing. All o0f the sudden, I felt like we should head up to an intersection and just start handing out pass along cards to see what happens. Some guy started calling us over, and we went to go talk to him. He introduced us to a young guy (joven) and told us that he needed a lot of help. We talked to them about how it is that faith in Christ can help us at all times and in all places, and that He is there even when we feel like we aren't worthy of His love.
Joven accepted an appointment with us, and he seemed really excited.
It really is through small and simple means that great things are brought to pass.
I love you guys!
Love,
Elder DuBose

When in the service of your fellow men - Mon 8/6/2018, 3:54 PM

Dear friends and family,
We had a ton of grand miracles this past week.
We had one of our investigators show up to the last part of the three hour block, and it was an awesome experience.
So, M. was in a car accident about two months ago, and has been healing really well. His dad is a less active member who invited us to give him a blessing, and we started to teach him. Beacuse of his injuries, he couldn't come to church for the past few months. He commited to come yesterday, and he came! His dad and his mom drove up in their car, and the car broke down right in front of the church.
As we were returning to the class, a member that was with us asked, "Is there car alright?" I told him no, and he said, "Come with me, let's take a look."
So we went out and the member pulled a huge toolbox out of his trunk and said, "Okay. This is the problem, and this is what I need to do to fix it."
We missed the last part of the gospel principles class, but we got the dad excited about coming back to church.
It reminds me of the truths taught by King Benjamin, that "When you are in the service of your fellow men, you are only in the service of your God."
I know that our Heavenly Father loves each and every one of you. He wants you to make it back to Him. I bear testimony of that.
Love,
Elder DuBose
p.s. they have a big fair in San Luis every year called the Feria Nacional del Potosí. It is in our area and here is the view of it from our house.
